Riparian plants grow along rivers and bodies of water. We live in a coastal desert, but with the use of drip irrigation we have been very successful getting riparian plants to thrive. They love our clay soil which retains moisture for a long time. We have very heavily mulched this area to retain even more moisture, and we had a backhoe dig deep holes which we filled with compost for the deep rooted trees.
