WALK IN BEAUTY

Anne Antilla, who teaches art at Montgomery High School, is orchestrating a major Artscape in the garden. Walk in Beauty will involve up to 100 students per semester. The students will design ceramic tiles, a new steel fence, steel gates for each habitat, signs, books and posters highlighting the native flora and fauna of San Diego County.

The first picture shows a Matilija Poppy, two towers and part of a bird path designed by Ms Antilla as a memorial for her deceased mother. They are at the top of the hill in the grove of Torrey Pines. The second two pictures show trash cans built by students under Ms Antilla's direction. Heads and tiles made by her students embellish the sides of these cement structures. Click on them to see enlarged pictures.

Ms Antilla installs self portrait heads made by her art students. The idea is to have a permanent record of Montgomery High School alumni in the garden.
